Do you know someone who has exemplified the Scout Oath and Law in their everyday lives? Someone who has built upon the fire cheerfulness and has carried the burden for their fellow brother? If so, we encourage you to nominate them for the Vigil Honor. The Vigil Honor denotes individuals with an unique perspective and alertness towards people and situations. They are willing to cast aside their needs for the needs of others, to serve others faithfully and willingly.
The Vigil Honor is not something to be awarded based on conscious efforts, but is given to those who have represented Scouting and the OA throughout school, work, and family life. They have helped the Lodge prosper because of their expertise and knowledge, but more importantly, they are always ready to lend a hand.
The Vigil Honor is the highest honor that the Order of the Arrow can bestow upon its members for service to lodge, council, and Scouting. It can awarded after sealing one’s membership as a Brotherhood candidate for two years.
The Vigil Honor is a high mark of distinction and recognition reserved for those Arrowmen who, by reason of exceptional service, personal effort, and unselfish interest, have made distinguished contributions beyond the immediate responsibilities to one or more of the following: Lodge, Order of the Arrow, Scouting community and Scout Camp.
The Vigil Honor nomination form can be found on the website at www.nguttitehen.org under the Resources tab. Nominations are due by August 15th. The Vigil Honor inductions will be at the Fall Fellowship October 20th to 22nd at Camp Roy C Manchester.
