2020 Nguttitehen COVID Guidelines

The below guidelines have been adopted by the Lodge LEC and approved by the Lincoln Heritage Council for the operation of Ordeal Induction Weekends for the calendar year 2020. If you have questions or comments, please send them to info@nguttitehen.org

September Ordeal Inductions

The induction weekends that are scheduled for September 11th to 13th at Tunnel Mill Reservation and Pfeffer Scout Reservation will occur as scheduled with the below restrictions and modifications.

  1. The weekends will be limited in size to the first 50 candidates to register for each weekend. In addition, staffing (i.e. member participation will be limited to 25 people. Members will have to complete an interest form and only those approved and assigned a task for the event will be permitted to attend.
  2. Everyone will have to undergo the COVID-19 screening as detailed below.
  3. All participants will be subject to the COVID-19 restrictions detailed below.
  4. The weekends will be operating on a modified schedule with the ceremony taking place late Saturday afternoon and concluding after dinner Saturday evening.
  5. Meals and lodging will be as detailed below.
  6. Face Masks / Coverings will be required at all times.
  7. The Ordeal Ceremony will be modified in accordance with the guidelines from the National OA Committee on ceremonies during COVID.

Mini Ordeal Weekends

We will be offering multiple “Mini Ordeals” at Peffer Scout Reservation and Camp Crooked Creek throughout the fall, the dates are still being finalized, they will be conducted in accordance with the below modifications and restrictions.

  1. The weekends will be limited in size to the first 25 candidates to register for each weekend. In addition, staffing (i.e. member participation will be limited to 10 to 12 people. Members will have to complete an interest form and only those approved and assigned a task for the event will be permitted to attend.
  2. Everyone will have to undergo the COVID-19 screening as detailed below.
  3. All participants will be subject to the COVID-19 restrictions detailed below.
  4. The weekends will be operating on a modified schedule with the ceremony taking place late Saturday afternoon and concluding after dinner Saturday evening.
  5. Meals and lodging will be as detailed below.

COVID-19 Restrictions and Procedures (All Weekends)

  1. Everyone wear be required to wear a face mask / or covering at all times. The only time a mask should be off is eating / drinking or when outside and not within 6 feet of others (even then its preferable to stay on).
  2. Candidates will be spaced 6 or more feet apart for the overnight experience.
  3. Members should plan on bringing their own tent, there will not be any sleeping in buildings.
  4. Work Crews will be kept to 10 or less and practice social distancing to the degree possible when working.
  5. Everyone should plan on bringing their own water bottle.
  6. Upon arrival at camp and reporting to registration, everyone will go through a COVID-19 Screening which entails answering the standard COVID-19 Screening questions and undergoing a temperature check. Anyone showing a temperature of 100.5 or higher will be rechecked and if they have a second reading of such, they will be sent home.
  7. Everyone will have to bring a new med form.
  8. Ceremonies attendance will be limited to essential people only ie. candidates, ceremony team and helpers. If a parent or unit leader insist on going, we will accommodate.
  9. All meals will be in clans or individually outside of the dining facility. People would be expected to keep their mask on at all times except when eating. Meals will be grab and go and made up and bagged. Dinner will be a more a full meal but served in to go box. Any areas used to serve or eat indoors will be cleaned after each meal.
